The Island of Innisfree was the inspiration for W B Yeats poem the Lake Isle of Innisfree. Although Yeats was from Sandymount in Dublin and was educated in England, he is associated with County Sligo. Beautiful County Sligo was the source of much of his inspiration. This photograph was taken at around the time Yeats was travelling the countryside of Sligo. Perhaps the two artists met. Yeats later won the Nobel Prize for literature and remains one of Ireland's most distinguished literary giants.
